Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson. 1st Viscount Nelson. 1st Duke of Bronté KB (29 September 1758 – 21 October 1805). One of the most inspiring of all British leaders, with a superb grasp of strategy and unconventional tactics resulting in many naval victories, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars. He was wounded several times during combat, losing the sight of one eye in Corsica, and most of one arm during the attempt to conquer Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Nelson was shot and killed during his final victory, at the Battle of Trafalgar. 1805. His legacy is, and shall remain, enduring.
